| hi all, well im going to be off to college (hopefully) in september, and im stuck between two extremes, which college and course to go for.
option 1: salisbury college, 3 year plumbing course, which i have been excepted for.
option 2: sparsholt college, 2 year animal management course, which i will soon be going for my interview.
now all of my family want me to do the plumbing course, and i think its for one reason, the MONEY. part of me wants to do the course but a bigger part of me dosent want to, mainly because i dont think i will last at it after the course and when i need work i beleve i will lose interest and the 3 years of my life will have been wasted.
now the other side, animal management course sparsholt, now if i was to follow my heart this would be where i would be going 100%. but the main issue with this course that my family says, and i do agree with them a little bit, is the fact of finding a job at the end of the course. now i idealy want to open business, in the way of a pet shop, and maybe progress from that onto bigger things.
so as you can all tell im stuck between two extremes, one which seems to be the money side of life and the other my heart and enjoyment.
are or have any of you studied an animal course at college, and what are you doing now?
what do you guys think? can you help me out ?
thanks guys chris. | |

| Im doing an animal management course at college now, its pretty good though quite a lot of work! i would recommend it, you can always do it, then if u don't think that you'll earn much money, theres nothing to stop you doing the plumbing thing after, earning a bit of money and then going back to the animal stuff! you should do what you want, life's too short!!
that was a bit of a rant! aha.

| Chris, do what you love, not what makes more money. Just know that a majority of the jobs you will be getting from this career, will be lower paying than in plumbing. | |

| I wish to study Marine biology, Oceanography, and Ichthyology. But of course, I will also try my hand in Biology, Botany, and probably some Zoology. | |

| Researcher, I could work for some major companies or organizations as a researcher, or I could become a teacher, or I could work for a zoo or public aquarium. I don't really care, as long as I do what I'm happy with. Even though the pay would be less than spectacular, but I anticipate that at least.
But for you Chris, Herpetology may be a good choice for you, although I cannot say what you feel the most passionate about. There are many different careers out there, look at what you want, not what is expected of you. Another good idea is to try to take many different classes, and narrow it down to what you think appeals to you most. Oh, and make sure to take a business class! No matter what career you take up, a business class will help with life in general, and is a must need for any financial issues.

| yea Herpetology, i would love that. but i dont think i can just study that on its own, im not sure, i will look into it. and in the ND animal management course the business side of things and the industry are included in the course, | |

| Oh alright, business is, at least in my mind, a necessity no matter what course you take. But if they teach you it in the class, then that's even better. You can try Herpetology and Animal Management? Could that work? | |

| i could always do the Herpetology after the Animal Management course, but at sparsholt college they dont just do a Herpetology course. so it maybe could be somthing to think about in the future. i have an interview comming up for sparsholt soon so i should be able to find out all my questions there. | |
