Global warming

What do you all think about this?

Was it always going to happen?

Can we stop global warming and turn it around completely?

Or are we just going to turn into a giant greenhouse?

I think we could change the outcome, if the whole world works together.

But then what are the chances of that, no one can ever agree on anything.

Do you think we, as a planet can change?

I have been hearing so many things about climate change (since I'm not even sure if the world is warming anymore.) I do know that the climate is changing, that cannot be denied, all sides can indeed agree upon this. I don't think that humans have the gigantic affect it is to be believed, we have caused many things, horrible, grotesque, ruthless things, we are after all, the only animal that will kill for no reason. But if anything we are apart of the cause, how much, I cannot say. Or it could be completely natural, it may just be another natural cycle. I mean, we know almost nothing about the Earth, believe it or not, we have only been on the planet 1/12th of a second the full hour the world has existed, that is nothing.

There certainly is an effort being taken by those that are willing to make the effort, it certainly cannot hurt. But some just do not care, they act and convince themselves to care so that they aren't the "outcast", but they really do not. But if everyone were to be able to join together, and help a global effort, I do wonder if people are such a large influence that the climate would stop changing. It would either stop completely in about 500 years if we keep up the effort, it will slow down a bit, or even reverse to a more "natural state", or it will just go on like nothing happened.

In short, I have no idea what's going on, unless we can all become more environmentally conscience and make a global effort, than we will see what happens.

You have a strong opinion there.
im not one for history, but has there ever in the past thousands of years been any increase in global temperature, or has the warming come along with the uprise of the human?

Thank you, I try to straighten my own opinions with what I find to be the most reasonable, and will accept other's of course.

Indeed there has been increases and decreases in temperature. The last Ice Age was a cause from a very circular current that is near the English and GreenLand border, it circles the water that creates warm water to the European area. It was thought that the Ice Age was when that conveyor belt was shut down, and the warm water was redirected to different areas of the world, and so that area of the world became extremely cold. And there have been numerous more smaller Ice ages through out the years before that one, and there was even one that was larger that happened during the dinosaur ages I believe. Maybe the world has been changing global temperatures ever since the atmosphere was developed and stabilized, it could just be a cycle.

So yes, the world has changed temperatures, to even more extreme events and occurrence's than what we are experiencing now. but scientific evidence that we have gathered points to the fact that the the Climate is changing, but will not stop. That is what they are worried about, and maybe we want to think that people are the cause, so that we can help fix it? It's quite possible. Or we truly are the cause, and we aren't doing everything that we should be, out of selfish desire to have the best we can for us.

Ow, headache, too much thinking even for me.

Oh, and the modern day human was evolved or created (depends on what you believe in), when humans could survive. We are weak, fragile, slow, extremely helpless when in fear, but we are smart. So we came along when we could survive. And if the Earth was changing somehow in it's Climate, than I would think for it to be just a coincidence, as actual emissions and serious deforestation didn't occur for quite along time after we got here.

Hm, interesting. Indeed places that were once cold, are melting, and the rainforest's are getting colder. Things are changing, and maybe this time we are just around to see it, interesting how we react. Hmmmmmm, poor ox. This reminds me of the polar bears that are drowning because they cannot swim for the hundreds of miles of ocean they need to, to find land.

This is a fact and I don’t believe there is much that will and can be done about it.

Everything Animal wrote:

No one would have for thought it till the problem manifested itself.

Everything Animal wrote:

No we cannot because we are to reliant on fossil fuels with capitalistic profit driven economies

Everything Animal wrote:

Temperatures will rise and seasons will change affecting agriculture all over the planet.

Everything Animal wrote:

Yes we could but no it won’t happen in time. Look at the USA refusing to agree to an air pollution gradual clean up.

Everything Animal wrote:

No chance of the world’s politicians agreeing to a united front. The UN will try but this will put the world economical power into the hands of those who control the media and world financial institutes. (Follow the money)

Everything Animal wrote:

The planet is changing and not for the better. The earth is about to suffer food shortages like it has never seen which is a catalyst to radicals and power hungry politicians causing conflicts.

Do you believe that weapons manufacture are concerned what there weapons can do and who they kill? What about those shipping companies who offload nuclear waste into the sea.
Eventually this will affect us all but its money in the pocket so he does not give a dumpling.

Global warming upsets the climate all over the world. I read that the U.K will become cooler instead of warmer due to some current at the equator being affected.

You guys don’t know what a warm summer is mate. Trust me I lived in a town for six years were the temperature averaged at 32 to 35 and got to 42 degrees in the shade once or twice.
Sun burn and sun stroke was just another day.

Yeah winter is frostbite looking for a victim. You properly came visiting in spring or autumn. The temperatures during the change of seasons are somewhat extreme either way.
I love the bush and not the tourist road but off the beaten track. The quiet is something that hurts my ears.

Check this out

Climate Change May Cause Reptile To Change Sex, NZ

July 2, 2008
Prehistoric Tuatara reptiles in New Zealand may become extinct because all their females will be gone. A recent study says that in higher temperatures all the new born creatures will be male, and the authors of Australian research suggest organising artificial shadowed areas above the Tuatara nests.

Scientists from Melbourne University have published a study which claims the Tuatara will hardly ever be able to change its natural habitat and migrate to colder places if Earth’s average temperature is 4 degrees Celsius warmer, as predicted under climate change.

The sex of the Tuatara depends on the temperature in which embryos develop. When it’s 22.1 degrees Celsius or lower a female animal will be born, but at 22.2 degrees or higher all the new-borns will be male.

Tuatara has been preserved since Jurassic times, as it is as old as 200 million years. It has preserved some features of reptiles, for example the so-called ‘third eye’ – a visual (photosensitive) organ on the crown of its head. Their metabolism is extremely slow, and they live for 100 years on average, but in the same time have a very high rate of genetic evolution.

They live in burrows, eat insects and baby birds. Some animals brought by colonists that hadn’t naturally inhabited New Zealand have considerably decreased the number of Tuatara.

So, the ancient animal who has survived through tens of millions of years may vanish due to global warming in the 21th century, and as the alarming news come in, it’s hard to say which species will be the next target of the climate change – some reptiles, birds or even primates, including humans.

Don’t know but the temperatures will change gradually so the night and the day will be two or three degrees difference from normal.
When this happened to the sea all the ocean currents will change and life on this planet will never be the same, guaranteed.

In May, the polar bear became the first species declared as threatened because of climate change. Warming temperatures are expected to melt the sea ice the bear depends on for survival.
