| I have noticed that whenever i turn the lights out in my aquarium and then turn the lights back on, the fish have lost their colour, then their colour seems to come back.

| It's a defense mechanism used to help camouflage the fish at night. Their colors make them seem more noticeable at night, because bright colors stand-out in darkness. So they become see-through and lose almost all color, so that they are nearly invisible.
